Save 3 Hours A Day By Unfollowing Idiots

Friday 20th October

Howdy 👋

Let's have a real talk. There are a lot of people online telling you right now, to hurry up and get rich. To hustle. And all that ‘brokie’ b******t.

It’s directly shaping your self-perception, and making you feel useless.

It pushes the extremes and makes you act out of impulse.

You may call it motivation. I call it fear-mongering.

Imagine scrolling through your socials and feeling... peace.

Imagine seeing content that uplifts you, teaches you, and genuinely aligns with your core values.

Let's call it, “The Art of Unfollowing Idiots”.

Why this is important?

Your feed isn’t just a slew of random images and captions. It’s a carefully curated exhibition, designed (often subconsciously) by you. Every follow, like, share, and scroll sculpts this digital gallery.

But here’s a gentle whisper of truth: It's okay to outgrow things. Even people.

If you have an extra 60 seconds, I urge you to watch this clip here. Frances Haugen here talking, worked at Facebook, and talks about the disturbing things she saw there.

So, how do you begin, focussing on just you then?

Align Your Digital and Personal Values

Know what matters to you, what you stand for, and ensure that's reflected in who you follow and what you consume.

You may not want lots of partners and a sports car in Dubai you know. There may be other things, that when you remove the stimulus, you can see what you actually feel would be good for you.

If someone shows that imagery to people who want to be rich, what does it say about the mentality that craves it.

Decide What You Want

Does an account’s content make you feel joyful, inspired, educated, or supported? No? Hit unfollow. Yes? Engage, learn, grow with them, but moderate it.

Quality Over Quantity

Pick 5 accounts to follow. That’s it. In the same way you’d be specific about what friends you bring into your life. Do the same with social accounts.

In a world where you can be anything, be kind – to yourself. Be authentic, and don’t carry guilt. There’s no need.

Tread gently. Have a good weekend.

Stay curious,
