What Is Stopping Yourself From Getting What You Want?
You. I’m afraid.
Monday 4th March
Hello 👋
I know it’s hard to imagine. But you are the only one responsible, for not getting where you want to be.
And that’s ok because if you really wanted it, you’d already be there.
Let me explain.
You want what you want… even if you don’t want it.
I can see how this can be confusing. But what you have to understand, is you are attracting everything all the time.
Even the things you don’t want, you must on some level want them.
Thoughts → Belief Systems
Habits → Behaviours
“But come on now, why would I give myself anxiety or relationship trouble, or even not know what to make for dinner and I stand there aimlessly in the kitchen for 20 minutes…?”
Because on some level, you feel it is important.
Why, cause you built a belief system where you believe that benefits you.
Why do you do this?
There’s a part of you that enjoys it.
There’s a part of you that enjoys, the confusion, the in-action, the procrastination… because it means you don’t have to face an outcome.
A bad outcome → you feel you won’t cope with.
A good outcome → you feel you may not cope either. Or that you wouldn’t deserve it anyway.
So How Do I Change?
Find the reason…
Note down repeating habits.
Take note also of what you were meant to be doing, and why instead you decided to do something else.
Make the connection.
Here’s an example to get you going…
You were going out with friends. But you cancelled last minute. Like you did last time. And the time before.
So we know it’s a habit.
You then, instead, sit indoors and watch a familiar movie and have the same meal you’ve eaten 3 nights in a row now.
Why?
Ask yourself why you would prefer the meal and movie, to dinner with your friends.
And when you get that answer. Say why again.
And again.
And again.
Keep going till you can’t go any further.
Here’s your reason.
Things Take Time
This won’t change overnight. But, just like rolling a snowball down a hill. Give it a little momentum, you’ll see the compounding effect in no time.
Remember, once you’re aware of a bad habit. It’s no longer a habit. It’s a choice. It’s up to you.
Stay curious,
C
